Whats probably worng is the wires are broke somewhere and are shorting out.

why is this in the engine building section?



anyway, do you have any aftermarket fans wired or anything that is electric wired into the car that didn't come from the factory?

I've seen carb'd cars "run on" like this....tho what i'm talking about istn' an ignition problem. it looks like your problem was solved, but i'm going to post this for reference purposes.



run on is when you have a carb'd car and it does not shut up after the ignition is switched off. I had a few toyota's that did this. what happens is that sometimes the spark plugs will retain enough heat energy that if you are using a low octane gas, it will ignite from the heat when it is compressed, not needing an actual spark from the ignition system. I forget what you have to do to solve this problem, and i certainly dont' know if a rotary would do this or how to fix it if a rotary did do it, but the solution is to use a higher octane gasoline.
