Hey guys, Its been a while. I have a question maybe one of you can answer.



I want to get an Engine Torque Damper, but I can't seem to find one for the FC.



Anybody knows where I can get one?

yes but with a toqure brace there is less vibration and stress on the mounts

Personally I would go for the solid mounts, what do you think is going to happen to the stock rubber ones when you try to stop them from moving?



They are going to break because you are trying to prevent them from moving at the furthest possible, this is almost counter productive.

i've got solid engine and tranny mounts, seems to help with engne roll. of course a slight increase in vibration, i'm not coplaining

i went with the mazdamotorsports hard rubber engine and tranny mounts with a mazdatrix strut bar with toqure brace and have not had a failure of any mounts in the last 5 years since i went that route. there is no vibration what so ever and is less , i beleive , stress on the mounts because with the brace the engine is not moving around .

alright well lets look at this from a different perspective:



A) with solid mounts, if indeed there is more stress on where the mounts mount to the frame, then there's more stress in an area which is designed specifically to handle the highest amounts of stress as possible. If you were to drop something heavy on the hood of the car the motor isnt gonna snap out of it's carriage. Solid motor mounts also eliminate the torqueing by simply not moving if the mounts cant move the engine cannot torque, and cannot transfer that torque anywhere.



B) put on an aftermarket torque brace, now you're putting a pretty decent amount of additional stress on 2 points of the car that were not designed to have that additional stress. Nevermind the fact that the torque brace doesnt *prevent* torqueing of the motor, it simply transfers the torqueing of the motor to the body of the car, even if you cant see it youll feel it in a corner.



Make your own decisions, but dont believe all the bullshit about solid engine mounts shaking your teeth out. The only solid engine mounts that do that are on v8's. on a rotary you get a small shimmy of a vibration below 1500rpm, you feel absolutely nothing anywhere above 1500rpm.



personally the torque brace is a ghetto solid mount, and we all know what ghetto mods are....less effective then the real thing.

see with a brace like the one i run the stress points are the strut mounts wich are designed to cary the weight of the vehical so adding a little bit of stress so you say to them via a strut to strut to fire wall with toqure brace does not im opinion hurt anything. i have seen just a shock style brace AKA a damper wich just bolts to strut bolts that i do have a problem with. i also dont like the solid mount trans mounts as to me i would worry about breaking a tail stock with a few hard launchs. i dont know i am happy with the brace and hardend mounts and dont see the need on a street car to use solid mounts.

I made my own using an engine damper meant for a 180sx and made my own mounts. It made a huge difference in terms of engine movement. Because it is a damper or shock, not a piece of metal bar like the Mazdaspeed one, it reduces the torque but does not stop it from moving completely.

Solidly mounting it may put more stress on points that are not designed for it, but this works perfectly to reduce the movement of the engine.

If anyone wants the templates for the bits I made, let me know and I can trace it the general shape of it then post them up.
