Ok well I am new to rotary motors. I just bought a new rx7, and it was not starting. Turns out it was flooded. Now every time I start it, it blows smoke and will not keep idle. I am assuming that the apex seal is bad. I did change the oil the first time I got it running. I have a friend that told me I can use a engine/cooling sealant to fix the problem. I can not find any info on this topic anywhere though. He said that his friend did it to his 88 and it worked like a charm. Can anyone shed some light on this topic? |
there is nothing to fix a blown apex seal except a rebuild. but while your doin that u can get it ported best of luck and welcome to the forum

I just don't have the cash. here is the car... http://austin.craigslist.org/car/377789244.html |
Hopefully you didnt pay too much for the car. What area do you live? there might be some rotorheads nearby to give you a hand.

Get a compression check done or do it yourself. It will let you know where you stand. If it is an apex seal, there is nothing short of a rebuild that can fix it.

well I just need more time and money.
what else could be causing my problems then? It runs really rich. Smokes every time I start it. I kill it by taking out the egi comp fuse out and, not putting it in until I start it. |
Does it pull at all? If you've blown an apex seal, the best you could likely do is keep it running badly with no load. If you can accelerate the car, then it's probably not an apex seal. Start with the compression check.
