I installed new headlights today. All I did was take out the old headlights and put in some new ones. Didnt rewire anything. The only wire I touched was to unplug the old headlights and put in the new.

I went in to a restaurant to have dinner, came out and my fog lights were on. I thought that I may have left them on but the switch was off. Turned the switch on and the lights went out. Turned the switch back off and the lights stayed off. Went to my office to pick something up. When I was sitting in my office, the fog lamps were turning themselves on and off at random. I can see the car out the window, of course. The car was not on, the keys were not in the ignition. I went outside and turned the switch on and the lights went out but then came back on. I turned the switch back off and they stayed on and then went out on their own. They have not come back on as of yet. Sounds like a short to me somewhere but why would it start with something simple as changing the bulbs?

Thought I may ask the forum. Could be a haunted car.

I dont think it will be that big a deal either but I dont understand the coincidence of the headlight change and the fog lamp problem. The wiring isnt even close to each other. Oh well....

oh ok i have a SIMILAR HAUNTING STORY NO JOKE!!!..ight recently my radio has been turning on when the car is off. right before i go to sleep i look out the kitchen window to check out my baby ( make sure she is there) then i see the radio on. so i shut if off. Later on that night i see the freaking radio turning OFF and ON like if it was hazard lights. i was like "WTF is my car possessed" i know some members may recal that post. so i know i have a short or something because my battery voltage jumps down from 14.4 volts to 12 volts and shoots back up to 14 volts. sometimes its always at 14 sometimes at 12. ANd it aint the battery cause i just put a 910CA Optima battery and the car still does it so its gotta be that or its been taken over by aliens who want to make a rotary space ship....so i aint good with electrical **** or know how to find th e problem so HELP anyone....

Sincerely the TECHnologically impaired..

stuff turning itself off and on is usually bad installation methods.

Not tapping power from switched sources, running wires right to the

battery, lack of fuses or fuse ratings, proper connections and wire gauges, they all contribute to problems and shorts.

We all start somewhere, I remember wiring radios and fog lights back in the day before I even got my license, when I think of how I wired **** back then its scares me now, lol.
