I am looking to scrap my stock fan and replace it with an electric fan. Can any one recommend a brand or even better a model number for a 1986 GXL.

I just purchased an electric fan from a 90-94 3.8l V6 Ford Taurus. Moves quite a bit of air, cost me $40, and fits almost perfectly. Just visit your local junkyard.

Too be honest, the stock fan doesn't seep a bunch of HP. There really is no replacement for the stock fan. You should just keep it...IMO

How deep is that taurus fan.. I want an E fan for the repu because it seem like it would take less space than the clutch fan..

It's very thin. 3-4" total.

umm...... they produce more cooling and take up less space...i think thats why most do that including myself......no one is really looking for the .5 hp they can free up

stock fans pull a lot more air than most efans (unless you spend the big bucks on one). But the fact that they save that much room is awsome, and will be the reason I want to buy one, even though it is a step down cooling wise.

The Taurus fans are used a lot, as are the Fireo fans, these are your best junk yard fans, when it comes to racing ones like Jegs and Summit sale, just get the best fitting highest flowing one that you can find.

stock fans pull more when theyre at 5000rpm or above

this is a neverending debate but ill just quickly say

unless your stock fan and shroud and radiator are all setup like day one from the facotry and perfect - theyre prolly not doing theyre 100% job

idling and going slow the efan will kick the crap out of the stock fan, and it pulls more until about even up until 5000 rpms

the "junkyard ones" are better and cheaper than permacool and flex whatever
