For what reason does the ECU need to know that the tranny is in fifth or reverse? (Reverse lights, I know, but otherwise, why?) I ask because on of the wires to that sensor (driver's side, right?) was disconnected and my reverse lights have never worked. Kind of pisses me off because I actually paid a guy to do a big list of random fixes I had piling up at the time, replacing the reverse sensors was one of them, and the lights still never worked. Now it looks like he may have replaced the sensor but it wasn't plugged in anyway. How did he miss that? Oh well, mistakes happen.

 

it knows 5th to do egr and it also does something small with the acv. not a big deal
