I'm replacing the window trim strip on the drivers door(the one on the top outside of the door), with one from Mazdatrix. Is there any trick to getting the old one off without destroying something or does it just pop off?

remove the screw and just take it off, you might have to slide it away from the mirror a bit. The whole thing is held on with clips so if any clips stay on the car, be sure to remove them before trying to install the new one. When you get the new one youll have a good idea of the whole operation.

Take the mirror off before you try to remove it. If you don't then there's a good chance that you'll crack a piece off of the mirror.

< I have taken the strips off without the mirror coming off, but it wouldnt hurt to take the mirror off and play it safe like Ace says, the mirror is only held in with 3 screws, be sure not to crack the plastic cover on the inside of the car over the screws, then there is a good chance those screw that are holding the mirror on will be a bitch to get off.

OK, I've got the strip from mazdatrix, but I don't see a place for a screw or one on the strip thats on the car. Does the cover for the mirror just pop off?(I've got electric mirrors, does this make any difference?)

The screw is on the inside of the door, at the end opposite the mirror. That triangular plastic piece just pops off. Then you'll see the 3 screws for the mirror.

So, do I have to take the whole inside door panel off to get at the one screw(or just kind of lift it up?)

No. Just look at where the trim ends on the inside of the door, and you'll find the screw.

Is there not a little tab where the screw would go to the left of the moulding????
