Driver Side Door Handle Wont Work

I have an 87 N/A RX7

My driver side door handle wont open my door, it goes up but thats it...BUT the inside drivers door handle does open it. I took off the inside panel but after that its to complex for me, i hope i can get some good advise from someone here. is it the latch? How do i fix this???

Handle broke.. its a common thing.. the potmetal that they use is brittle.

The latch isn't too difficult to get off. Its held on by two 10 mm nuts and then some brackets for the door handle stuff. The key hole mechanism comes out. Just be careful not to scratch up your paint when pulling it out of the door.

Ok. So i was able to get my door panel off and everything else with it. I am try to get my door handle off, cuz it broke, and I can't. I unscrewed the 10mm bolts and I cant get the handle off. I see no way to take off the locking/opening mechanism. As a side note, that long, beaded thing coming off the power window regulator is supposed to be in the hose right?
