Hey everyone I have an 89 GXL 5 speed tan with 17 low pros on it. It has exaust system and intake. The car runs mint. Everything works great on it. I have plans of either taking out the motor sending it out and porting it...do everything else i can do to make it faster without having a turbo. Or i could sell the car and buy a turbo 2 and mod that out...but in that case i would have to sell my car and people around here are very poor and don't have any money. Got any info on what i should do?? All the help would be apreaciated.

Yeah.. why spend the moeny getting your engine ported if it runs good.. Wait till you need to rebuild it, then do it.. Maybe Meanwhile you can get headers and do a few other mods.. Read the FAQs in the second gen section..

Well the money thing isn't the problem...but the selling my car could be. I just wanted to know if it would be better going with a turbo 2 or just the na. Ohh and yes i do have the need for speed and the need for beating a moded gsx but that wont happen with the na...

it's not about the money... its about spending it where it needs to be spent.. if you make the car go faster you will need it to handle better, so why not get the suspension done first then hook up the engine.. then you will be able to enkoy the engine's potential..

Keep the NA for a while.

Dont pull the motor, just build around it...

in an 1/8th mile mostly stock T2s will run anywhere from 10.2 to 9.8.

in an 1/8th mile mostly stock NAs will run anywhere from 11.1 to 10.5

With simple boltons such as headers, hiflo cat, catback, good tires, good suspension and a cone filter will put the NA to a 10.3 to 10.0 timeslip in the 1/8th..this is in the T2 range. All of that wont cost u as much as say pulling your motor and having built or selling the car and buying a T2.

I have a lot of experience in the NA world, and believe me..they can be made quick too...also, u'll net that "all so important" reliability factor if you stay NA, when u go boost...more tuning is involved and the car will more then likely pop sooner then an NA!

I did a writeup on NA mods, should be in the FAQs page...
