Hmmm, looking at that, will a GSL-SE tranny swap into an FC with any difficulties?

sen2two 09-04-2006 12:23 AM

it didnt really answer my question cause it dosnt say wich model comes with LSD or not. like if the GTU is 4.30. or if the GXL's are.

from what i heard...if its a 5-lug. its LSD. i havnt seen a GXL or GTU without an LSD. so im still confused if my 91 GXL is 4.10 or 4.30 viscous

gxl's are 4.10's does that help. autos are 3.90s too.

I dont know. Mine is a 5 lug and it sure seems like it isn't an LSD. Theres's no tag on it saying its an LSD which my old one had. Unless the tag got ripped off and the diff is shot. It does have over 260,000 miles on it.

not all 5 lugs are lsd.

The following cut and paste from the other forum should answer your question.

"Did my 2nd Gen RX-7 come with a Limited Slip Differential?

Only the following USA model 2nd gen RX-7s had a LSD from the factory:

86-88 GXL

87-91 T2

88 GTU

89-90 GTUs (however not the 89-90 GTU)

It is also rumored that a few rare 91 coupes with both the A (upgraded the interior trim, added a power sunroof, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, and 4 piston front disc brakes and vented single piston rear brakes) and the B package (leather seating, a CD player, and rear cargo cover) came with a LSD, but you should note that Mazda denies that any FC other than the T2 came with a LSD in 91). You can also tell by looking at the differential as there will be a LSD tag on S4 cars with a LSD."

With that cut and paste, the S5 or 89-91 N/As had 4.10 open (non-LSD) diffs. Only the 89-90 GTUs model had a 4.30 ratio and these were viscous LSD. The '88 Vert 5MT had a 3.90 open. T2s had the 4.10 ratio. Further, I've been told by that some S4 GXL automatics had 3.90 LSDs.

sen2two 09-04-2006 07:43 PM

see mazda is gay. cause my friend had a 3.90 LSD from a automatic convertible. the rotary mechanic he got it from said it was rare. but auto verts did come LSD. and my 91 GXL is LSD. its never been swapped to my knowledge. and i havnt seen any other GXL that was not LSD. ******* wierd ass mazda.
