So the transmission that im getting there might be a small chance that the tranny is a s5. But all the **** i got for the transmission is for a series 4. I bought the exedy s4 clutch from mazdaformance, brings the disc, plate, throw out bearing, pilot seal/bearing for $130 but it says its for 86-88 which is what i was told the tranny was. Now the ACT clutch says for 86-92, full range of s4 and s5. So whats the major difference b/c the t/o bearing and seals are different for s4 and s5 when u got around stock and when u go for high performance like act they good for all series HELP!

JaSON,

WHAT ARE THE MAJOR DIFFERENCES.. size , depth, teeth, width, adjustment etc

The stock t2 s5 clutch disk is a hair bigger i believe, but not an inch. Most aftermarkets make it to the s4 spec then it's interchangable between all years...

The crossmember on the t2 tranny's is different between s4 and s5 as well, it will bolt up if you have the appropriate cross member.

If it's NA, then it's the same from s4 to s5.

SO IF the clutches are THE SAME FOR all n/a from 86-92, why do they sell different pilot seals/bearing and throw out bearing, cause i know the master /slave cylinder are the same.. **** this is confusing

I wasn't aware there were any different throw out bearings, I will have to check. With an aftermarket clutch you'll get a throw-out bearing that matches the pressure plate, are you trying to use an old clutch?

hmm my bad on the "inch" guess, i knew the overall diameter was larger on s5 t2 clutches.

i had no idea all n/as were the same...but then again im not in the n/a world.
