I was driving to the junkyard today to pick a replacement headlight motor. Was following a car and in front of that car was a huge, bus-sized rv. I saw something fly up from behind the rv, so I slowed down a bit. A few seconds later the car in front of me swerved to the right and I saw a big piece of metal appear in front of me. I think it was a shock absorber or something. I didn't have time do to anything but straddle it. Made a huge bang and the car jumped up a bit. Right after that the exhaust got louder. I was afraid I might have punctured the oil pan or radiator. I looked at my coolant and oil pressure, were all ok. I made it to the junkyard and looked underneath. The driver's side muffler had a huge tear in it! Dammit! I was planning to get a new catback soon, but I need one like now. Anyway, I was able to get a headlight motor for $25. Also found a k&n stock replacement filter laying around that they junkyard gave to me for $10. I got to change the oil on a customer's car and then I am going to RP to pick up a new catback.

damn that must of been a big chunk of metal your muff got punctured pretty good
|
I had a similar thing happen to me in the AE. Only it punched a nice sized hole in my radiator, and I was about 2 hours from home in BFE.
|
well, at least its just the muffler....... easily replaced
|
that sucks, nice to have you in TX man

Think of the bright side.. my friend was rolling down the interstate one night and was changing CD's .. looked up and a complete Semi tire w/ rim was sitting in front of him.. needless to say his car went flying through the air..bent the subframe, hood, blew the radiator... it was interesting. but damn that civic caught air https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
whatever you hit helped accelerate the affects of rust.. so really it's oke https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
hey, the muffler protected the rest of the car. Would you rather the gas tank get punctured?
The RP cat-back doesn't flow really well, but sounds much nicer. It's good to have some backpressure in an N/A anyway though, gives you some low end torque. The RB cat-back is supposed to be about as good as stock too. |

I couldn't justify spending $580 plus shipping on a racing beat exhaust for my beater. I got this for $430 after taxes and all, and just went and picked it up. If I don't like it I'll get something else in the future. The muffler internals are nothing like stock. Has a 3 pipe baffel inside. should help keep the noise down. RP said it was their most popular selling system.

I think i have that same exhaust on my T2...its cheap but nice and bassy sounding. Previous owner got it from RP and looks the same... Too small for a T2 but should be perfect size for the n/a https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png good luck with it |
