Someone I know is making these. What do you guys think? I might get one for my white fc. This is just the "plug" and its still in development. Its suppose to weigh under 10 pounds, and he wants to sell them for under $300. The back portion of the hood is suppose to go all the way down the radiator, kinda like the ferraris.

On bigT's car.

it looks nice from the front, but the hole is a tad too big

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif That is the final product? That looks like **** sorry to say. But if it weighs under 10 pnds, that would be decent.

How much does the stock hood weigh?

86se7en 04-18-2004 12:34 AM

the front scoop looks like it sits up high and the hole is really big

ROTARYROCKET7 04-18-2004 01:13 AM

the hood is not bad but it may be a lil too open, but besides that its pretty nice

Did you read the post he said this is just the "plug" and its still in development.I don't really like it the hole is way too big.The bay would get dirty quick. He should try something similar to the scoot hood but for the fc.

The point of the large hole is so there can be a shroud if you may that runs to the bottom of the radiator. And you need a gradual slope for this. The reason the top is so high is to created a higher pressure zone there. As far as I understand..

Something tells me i need to hurry up and finish the hood that's on my showcar, cause sadly that looks like ****, but to each their own......

j9fd3s 04-18-2004 10:53 AM

i think the scoop is too tall. i still wanna know what you're making it from. we have a 1 layer cf hood (you can see daylight thru it, lifts 1 foot off the windshield at speed) and its 15#....

1Revvin7 04-18-2004 01:55 PM

I'll ask him what hes making it out of. BigT and I were starting to think last night that the hood scoop is too tall also. We like the rest of it though, big scoop is really functional! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png The sides of the scoop are also being rounded and the inner edge changed..

BigTurbo74 04-18-2004 06:46 PM

yeah the hole looks huge right now becuase the sloping shround piece isn't even in place yet. the maker says he can produce them out of f/b or c/f, of course the c/f will cost more and i believe will be a tad heavier.

Rotaryman88 04-18-2004 07:37 PM

I won't judge until I see the final product..but I do challenge the fact that it will weigh 10#s...even in CF. IF it does weigh that much...I'll take a little more weight just to be that much safer in a front end collision..

roadkill669 04-19-2004 11:00 AM

It will give your frontend some more down force https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I like the functionality of the hood. The shroud to the bottom of the radiator is a great Idea. I think the size of the hole is perfect considering the plans for the shroud, but I can see how the scoop might be a little better looking if brought down a **** hair and made a little more shallow.

* Oh and el thanks for the nice touch on the sig. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif
