yes i tear the mat...u have to otherwise it looks like crap........as far as the coremat goes it adds strength but in order to use it u have to completely soak it in resin.....and as far as thew coremat goes i like the strength weight ratio and this thing is a card hood and what you showed me was a boat hull.....so if there is someone way of convincing me that this thing has any possibility of falling apart which i highly doubt unless i decide to turn it into a boat, otherwise give me an exxact alternative....should i just use matting instead and nothing else...should i use cloth in between? You keep telling me what is excactly maybe you could tell me what exactly you would use in my situation.....as far as what i have its light and strong enough with not much flex....

this sounds good, maybe a bit overkill, try 1 layer of 3/4, then 2 1.5 oz,

otherwise lay out some test patches on a piece

of formica or something to see what kind of thickness you want

to achieve.

you should be using 3/4 oz for the first layer on the gel coat.

what would be cool, is if one of those hoods your working on has a reverse dished scoop that could be used to pull air though a radiator for those running electric radiator fans. That way at higher speeds you can use the negative pressure zone that is created on that area of the hood to pull massive amounts of air through the radiator, thats how a lot of gtp cars coolant systems work.

id like to do that but the deal is there arent THAT many people running with Efans to make a seperate mold for that...but as of right now i could because im not working really out of a mold....just a clean na hood that i mod for customs jobs but im getting really sick of that so im going to pick something i like for my own tastes and make a mold from it and if anyone wants they can come and get.....right now i finished the two today and i want to get started on my kit....i have always wanted to make stuff for my car and have exactly what i wanted but i never had the money to afford the stuff on the market, and this way i get to have what i want and to sell a few copies to fund my car project and maybe then some....we will see....ill send some pics of them finished later

99percent done...just have to clean the edges up in the vent and reinforce the underside by the vent
