I'm new to RX7s myself, and although I don't own an rx7, I do have a rather interesting project in mind right now. What's the width, end to end, on the FC front crossmember? And is it bolted to the frame rails, or welded? (ie. can it be easily removed?). If everything lines up, I should be able to transplant the crossmember as an engine support unit with minor hacks into the donor car.

Thanks!

a series 4 turbo into a 240z - if I can just hack up a stock crossmember (no need to use the control arm points), I can use that for support (plus it'll be a hell of a chassis stiffener up front).

Thanks for the help!

cool, the engine should fit with tons of room

how does the stock nissan motor mount up? maybe its a matter of remaking the brackets?

the stock motor is set far forward - a 13b would make the car a mid-engined vehicle, actually. I've thought of remaking stock mounts - but htat would put the motor too high and far forward. I'd prefer to go with lower center of gravity and more rearward placement.

I'm not a purist. RB26dett is too expensive, wiring harness is a nightmare, and you can't buy it as a set because it requires the gts-t rwd tranny out of an r33. Plus, where do I go for parts? at least for a rotary I can get parts in the states, many over the counter

too overrated. Although one guy on hybridz did just finish swapping an sr20det into an FD.

yup
