I did the TB mod awhile back. I'm wondering if this is the same for everyone else. It does this no matter what the weather is like, but worse in cold. When I start it up first time in the day, and after sitting for most of the day, if I don't keep my foot on the gas, it shuts off. It seems like I have to do this for at least a solid minute, and that's in hot weather. Does your car have the TB mod, and shut off when not warmed up?
Also, my defrost vents don't line up with the holes in the dash. I removed my dash awhile back, but I don't remember how things are attached back there. Do I have to remove my dash to get them to line up? dash removal=bad |
used to happen in my gxl.
i think it was a small vacuum leak if i remember correctly. |
Yeah i have to hold the gas for about 30 seconds on my car.
Also baldy your postcount is exactly at 1337 after this post. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
after i did the tb mod , it won't idle when cold.
|
mine shuts off when cold then holds perfect idel when warm but then again my preassure sensor is disconected and the nipple where it should be is sucking in air. I have a forced vacume leak to keep my car at a perfect idel. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

Mine won't hold idle either until after about 5 minutes..but probably cuz i've got more issues then most of u https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
I'm in the market for a stock s5 TB btw....just to swap mine out and see what happens... |
my engine will idle in cold but runs like complete ASS for about 20 secs when on start up and has a low idle when cold, but when it warms up it goes up..
|
everyones car is like that with the tb mod. Most cars will barely idle, and then the first time you stop the car if you dont put on the gas it will die. After you start it up the second time, it will run like a champ https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Hmm... that's interesting... because it just occured to me today that something about doing the TB mod might have something to do with why my TII wont idle. I have a freshly built and streetported s4 turbo motor that will not idle. It needs a little throttle fluttering to get it running, and when it's running, it seems to run perfectly fine, but it just will not idle. It doesn't even try. I've let it warm up for 15 minutes with my foot on the gas holding it at 1000rpm, and as soon as I let off the pedal, it dies just as it does when cold.
Although, I still have to fiddle around with some of the vacuum lines and crap, but now it does seem like the TB mod might have a lot to do with the non-idling problem. |

I think my car is just very groggy, having been undergoing exstensive surgery for the past 5 months. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png |

anybody? should I just get to work and remove my dash?
|
by removing all of the AWS system on the TB...you have totally confused the ECU. The only remedy as for as i know is to adjust the idle up a bit higher when its cold. I did this and it runs fine cold or hot.
|
I hold the gas down for 30 secs then it holds a 750 idle just fine. but will stall out on the first stop sign if I just stick in the clutch at 2000-3000 rpm. so I need to gently hold the gas to lower it down to idle instead of it just droping. after that it's fine.

standalone damnit!

Maybe Im just the exception, but the only time I ever had issues with it holding an idle when cold was when I had a vacuum leak. I spent a lot of time on the intake manifold to make sure there were no vacuum leaks when I built my last motor, and it started and idled fine when cold, and this motor is doing even better.

my car will hold an idle when cold. If i hold the gas for about 20 seconds and let off it will go to a 600rpm idle and then go up to normal as the car warms up.
