I have a 1991 13b engine. Ok. If I start my engine and let it idle to warm then I drive it off it wont buzz and light up 'add coolant'. I can then drive it around like your normal 40 to 50 for hours not one problem. I can then drive it on highway 60-65 and not one problem. No light no buzzing. What I do know is that I do have a crack in the radiator ( top plastic part) that isnt large enough for liquid to pass through is large enough for gas. Odd. I know this for sure cuz i can see steam coming out slowly. Having this, every time I turn off the engine and let it cool it will suck air back in and make me add more coolant. Now heres the problem im having. I want to have fun on this. When I start cranking on the engine at like 6 to 7k rpms (ofcoarse when engine is warm) my coolant light will go on for 5 sec then go away for 10sec then repeat. heres an odd thing, my water temp stays at normal in the middle (1/2 way) and my resevoir never fills up or spues out. Now I now the idea that my coolant seals are cooked. I have that in the my mind. Im not sure if I would like to admit it. I did get this engine from a junk yard and a very very cheap price about $180. I thought maybe I got lucky . I guess this time I wasnt. I should replace the radiator... which i prolly will. I will get those all metals. Considering this will be stored over the winter and never see a new york snowfall. O and i did replace the rad cap and the thermostat. Any ideas?

replace the radiator first. then take it from there.

that "if steam is escaping...thats coolant escaping, cause once it cools and condenses it re-bemoces coolant. so youre losing coolant.

***FYI***

I took out the radiator and the foam at the bottom of the rad is soaked at one corner. I had it pressure checked. It has a couple of leaks at the corners. Cannot be repaired. Ahh. Well i have a rad being order. This kinda makes me feel better that its not the seals in the engine. Well we dont know til we put the new one in. this time i got an all metal one.

**This was copied from a email I was sending to a buddy in town. Names you wont know. Jay has a 87 rx7. I have a 87 rx7 for parts along with with my 91 rx7 as my fun box.**

I just got my rad in. I picked it up. Had to wait til after work to put it in. I got out of work put it in. Drove that car all through webster. most fun ive ever had with a car lol. I was crankin that beast to 7000.... doing burn outs. Didnt buzz once. came back home. took a shower. Then headed over to randals for a lil get togather. I park it there. no problems. I go inside. Im there for about 30mins tops then decide to go to e-hots with klondike. I pull out of the drive way crank on the engine... burn out then when i turn on the main road that dreadful buzz comes on. It goes on then goes away after 10 seconds. I turn on the 104 runnign about 60mph in 5th gear buzzer goes off again then goes out. I drive it normal its ok but goes on once in a while. I did notice tho when i got to ehots i was bone dry on coolant in the resevior. so i added some to the resevior. I drove back. Didnt buzz til i was on the highway. Well when i parked at randy's let it cool. I opened the cap and added coolant to the rad. Then drove it around and not one problem. maybe there were air still trapped. Can be possible.

Jay has the same problem. (he has a 87 rx7) His car buzzes at him about coolant more than mine. He has already taken the sensor from the 87 of mine and it worked for a while but then i guess it just went bad. idk. He would crank on it for a bit then come to idle. The buzzer would just go off. Now he justs grounds the sensor out so it wont buzz. His temp guage doesnt move just like mine. He never had problems. Im thinking of just grounded it out and running that engine to the ground. I mean if its due to bad seals in the block then i say **** it run that beast to hell.
