take a hand pump and connect the line going to your wastegate and pressureize it..see if the wastegate door opens or not.

before going extermal wastegate maybe u want to modify the Downpipe such that the wastegate dumps to it's own pipe and then have it collect at the end of the downpipe. oR open vent the wastegate by having it on it's own pipe and have it not collect back to DP>

My friend marlin had the same problem when he mated his hybrid to4 to the stock IC. Boost creep. Ended popping the engine. 14psi + even on second gear.

If you want to run an external wg, you have to weld the original wastegate hold to flapper and make a hole on the side of the turbine housing before the turbo to mate the flanges and external wastegate.

If you want to try to lower the boost, try using the stock air box and TID and not a cone with a vosko spec TID if you do have something lke that. This will restrict some air coming into the engine.

I on the other hand had a different problem. I lost boost as it when up the revs. I have determined that my 2 1/2 racing beat presilncer was a restriction. My car never over boosted.

do you have any pics or can you provide a better description of this?

i think this is my only reasonable solution since eventually i plan on going to a larger turbo but i wanna get my haltech and injectors first obviously.

does anyone have a premade pipe so that all id have to do is permanently close the internal wastegate or something?

im pretty sure my wastegate is in fact opening so would this re-plumbing help my wastegate or would i be better going external?

I've seen it but don't know where to find pics.

What are you running as a downpipe to the cat?

i dont have a cat, it looks like a decent size downpipe, to either a gutted cat or a midpipe (doesnt look like one simple piece so i dunno if its a midpipe) then to an RB Dual exhaust.

I have a K&N cone going through the sensor, and then through two 45 degree stock bends to the turbo inlet.

Did you get that NPR IC yet? You should wait and get that and see how the boost pattern goes. Having to feel up the pipe might bring the psi down a little.

If you can find the stock air box, and stock TID try to install it back and try it. On of the guys on this forum did that and brought his boost down that way.

But try what Cheers! said. Pressurize the wastegate and see if the rod moves.

Did you recently redo the vacuum lines?

how big of an external wastegate can you run? i'm not sure.

Someone at rx7club.com managed to port his waste gate such that the area of the ported wastegate was > then area of external wastegate.

I think he got like 37 mm on one of the wastegate ports and like 25 mm on the other one... shich is like 63 mm worth. Which is damn big. Much bigger then a 40mm tial ext wastegate.

Tek, which turbo is this? is this a hyrbid S4? or hyrbrid S5 turbo?
