OK, fellas.. I found a vert out here at a used car dealer.. The guy is having the typical problems like flooding cuz his mechanic turns the car on to move it and then just shuts it off.. Anyways.. I am goona work on the car and give it a good look over.. He is asking $2800 for it.. it is a White 89 Vert.. in good shape.. But I noticed the top(mercedes style) has a couple worn spots and I was wondering if I can buy a new one and how much? He said if I fix the car he will sell it to me for less than $2800.. maybe $2500 cuz he needs the space.. so is it worth $2500 if the engine is healthy.. It is in overall good shape..

WOW 2500 is a good price for a vert...paid $3200 for mine with 80,000 miles on it, verts seem to fetch the same price as s5 t2's. I guess because of their uniqueness . Once you put the top down you wont want anything else!

you really cant do that job yourself, DO NOT buy the top and take it somewhere.

With the discount the shops get on the top they can sell you the top installed for about $800 or so. It is not a easy job even for them.

My local guy gets $800 installed, the top was going to cost me about $650 for a Robbins brand top. It took him almost a day to do, he asked me for a $350 deposit which tells me thats what he must pay for the top itself.

yeah.. The cool part is that he will let me work on the car to get it running properly so if I see that the engine is in good shape then I will definately buy it.. but if not he will pay me for the work.. This will be a nice Daily driver if I get it..

Thanx for the info rob.. The only problem would be to find a place out here on the west coast to do it for me..

At least the interior doesn't smell bad, so it musn't be leaking..
