i just test drove a 2nd gen with a rebuilt S4 motor and compared to my talon its soooooo slow https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png is there anyway i could get say 60HP decently cheap? i think if i could get around 50-60 hp for cheap i'd be happy with it and consider buying it...

BigTurbo74 05-02-2005 02:07 AM

nitrous

nightwolf_4_98 05-02-2005 03:24 AM

dont trust it, i mean actual useable power, i dont want to go turbo or anything, i just want like 50HP extra and i'd be happy, i dont want to have to take the motor apart at all because its been recently rebuilt

fc3sboy1 05-02-2005 08:06 AM

a full exhaust and a fuel cut defencer will get you that jump start on 60 hp , add in a little extra boost and fuel and there you have it .

ZenRXSeven 05-02-2005 08:09 AM

Why not tear the motor apart? If it's been recently rebuilt (assuming that whoever did it knew what they were doing) then the housings should still be good, so you wouldn't have to worry about that $1000 price tag. Besides, thats the only way you're gonna see an extra 50-60hp with an n/a.

Edit: lol, is the car n/a or turbo?

without porting, its gonna be really difficult to get 50 extra hp...

i dont want to tear the motor apart because i dont have the time or the money for that right now, later down the road i'll have no problem with it.. im trying to go N/A that way i can buy regular gas, premium is killin me with the talon and it'd be even worse in a RX-7 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

1Revvin7 05-02-2005 03:23 PM

Stock ecu and rotaries are not easy on the gas tank. Get a 4 cyl if you want gas mileage.

psyclo 05-02-2005 04:23 PM

It takes money and knowledge to get over 200hp on a na.

Best to just find a TII. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

FikseRxSeven 05-03-2005 12:42 AM

well kahren is close to getting 200rwhp from a stock motor, i think by using a standalone and playing with runner lenghts.

psyclo 05-03-2005 12:34 PM

But tuning using the runners it using knowledge, most people wouldn't be able to do that properly. Not to mention tuned runners only help over a narrow RPMband.

Dramon_Killer 05-03-2005 07:18 PM

New intake mani and a haltech.

You dont need premium in an N/A, its actually recommended that you dont put premium in it.

psyclo 05-03-2005 07:55 PM

You hoesntly cant afford the $3 diffrence per fill up between premium and regular?

i never said i was going premium in a n/a....... why would i do that? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png i was talking about a TII that would suck with premium.. and no i honestly cant, i take can's back right now for gas money

psyclo 05-03-2005 11:04 PM

Not telling you how to live but then maybe a sports car is not a priority?

thats a fuel saver right there!

You can now hang out with the Prius and Insight crew

on a serious note, if your taking cans back for gas money, maybe get a reliable fuel efficient car.

yeah, why do you need a fast car anyway? if you go fast youll get a ticket and that will cost you more money

That starts adding up after a while. Especially with how expensive gas has been getting lately.

been there, still there, i just want somethin im gonna be happy in, and im not gonna be happy in some stupid like 89 HP grocery getter, the 260 will get approx 24MPG if im careful on the pedal, and i can run the shittiest gas in the world thru it and it'll never complain, so i cant complain either..

on a positive rotary note, i may have enough left over to buy a proj RX and start learnin to build my own motors https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png

Rob x-7 05-04-2005 08:33 PM

old small blocks tend to run only on premium, unless its some real low compression smog era small block, otherwise you may need to adjust the timing and carb to run on cheapo fuel.

spaceman Spiff 05-04-2005 10:27 PM

around here the difference between a 16 gallon fill up on regular and premium is 7 dollars.

My friend built up a bigblock and it runs on 87.

Rob x-7 05-05-2005 05:56 AM

then your friend has lower compression heads and pistons and doesnt run much timing as well
