I have an 86 non turbo Rx7. Bought it in L.A and whern I tried to drive it back to Vegas it overheated on me. Since then it has overheated several times, and it putters when I accelerate. I changed on the water pump, fuel pump, clutch fan, and check the psi in a compression test. Psi reads normal, no more leakage, but I still cant drive more than 20 minutes without overheating. I know I must have a crack in the block somewhere, but I don't think its the apex cause the car still runs, and have power. I didn't pay much for the ride, and I dont want to put much money into it. As in I'm not interested in an engine swap...

Is there some sort of quick fix to give the car a little more life so I can run the track and do some drifting?

Is there anything specific that leads you to believe there's a crack?

Since the rotor housings are aluminum, they probably wouldn't just... crack.

The side housings are cast iron and are more brittle, but i don't think you would have been able to drive it that far if it was cracked, let alone any spirited driving.

Are you running through coolant quickly?

I'd check your thermostat first, test it in a pot of near-boiling water. Make sure it starts to open at around 180 degrees F. Fully open at around 200.
