my TII the clutch master died. judge ito got me a tokico replacement. looked brand new. might have been rebuilt though. haven't had a problem since!

the tokiko ones are brand new, i think they are the orignial manufacturer too

also, check the slave. Sometimes the fluid will build up in the boot and you wont find the leak. Most of the time its the rubber hose from the master to the slave.

I had the tokico master and slave in my hand. Then I realized the rubber hose was leaking. I guess I should look before I buy stuff. BTW I replaced my master/slave last year and thought they went out again because I got an off brand.

Damn, I still wanna put in the tokico's just so I can say I have em.

have someone press the clutch pedal slowly while you keep adding fluid, with a flashlight in hand, i suspect you will find the leak.

I'm hoping its the hose, I'll find out tomorrow. From the looks of the master, it probably should be replaced regardless. Funny, I can't find any leaks in the clutch hydraulics yet but it looks like the damn brake master is leaking some where the reservoir plugs in. Now I know the brake master was replaced less than 20K ago and it is holding the fluid level... will that pass inspection?? Do I just need to pull the reservoir and install it again with new o rings or whatever?



This keeps getting better and better.........car runs great but I need to stock it with every type of fluid!!!

I changed out all the clutch hydraulics on both cars yesterday. It turns out the leak on my 86 was coming from the front of the clutch master where the c clip holds in the piston.... this is one you would never see without removing it. There is a 1 inch gap in the chassis between the engine firewall side and the interior side.



I have to ask about bleeding the clutches now. Haynes says to have assistant press clutch to floor while I watch for bubbles to come out in the container with brake fluid.. with a hose coming from the bleeder screw on the slave. Well, we did this and on the 86, it turned out good with average pedal feel but on the 88, it is hard as hell to push the pedal to the floor.



I used a stainless Mazdatrix hose on the 88 but I'm sure that wouldn't cause the pedal to be this stiff... any ideas?? Am I closing the bleeder screw to soon?

a mityvac-hand vacuum pump with bleeder kit works well or just open bleeder and put your finger over it and get somebody to move pedal in and out. your finger acts as a check valve letting air only out. make sure your slave cyl bolts are tight we had 1 stripped out and helicoiled it. can be done but not easy. pedal will not get harder to mash when its got air in it- will be easy cause theres no resistance. you may have another problem there. oh yea we have put both master and slave in ours and still have origional line still on it. rebuilt kits didnt last long. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Nothing is leaking now so it doesn't matter.... I'm just trying to get everthing bled right.



Horn, thanks for the bleeding info, I'll do that. And I took your guys advice and went with new units, no rebuild kits.
