will you be wet sanding before polish?

Fastrotaries 01-05-2003 04:40 AM

what color was it originally? Very nice and when can "I" drop off my car. Seriously, how much will this be? I want to keep the white color, just a hint of pearl.

It will all be wet sanded and polished, another step alot of shops dont want to bother with anymore. It adds about a days worth of work by the time I do it, wet sand, 2 different compounds, 2 machine glazes, and one finishing glaze by hand, all 3M Perfect-It III which is thier newest stuff, Ill take a pic of the gloss, maybe it will come out cool if I put a ruler against the paint or something to try to get a perspective.

After that with the paint I used all that will be needed is a wax every 6 months or so, it is VERY chip, chemical, and UV resistant. I can gurantee gloss for at least 10 years if you were to just leave it outside and just wash it, it will probably out last the car with normal care. My own car is a good testimant.

Plenty of people have seen my car, and the paint on there is 4 years old. \

I dont know how many people would be willing to spend the money on a

FC to paint it the way I paint it, and I dont know if I would feel comfortable skipping steps to paint someone's car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

do you add an extra coat of paint to compensate for the polishing? or does it not matter

I do put one more coat on there for polishing, just so that when Im done I have the desired amount of paint still on there.

Some paints actually tell you to put more coats if your going to wet sand, when I used the DuPont Chroma Premier clear for my Lexus it was 2 coats, 3 if you were going to sand and polish, so I put 3. All of todays high solids stuff is 2 coats, anymore and you have too much paint on there which can chip easily.
