I would like to know which models have the LSD'd in them ?

 

i believe the

s4- t2's, gxl's, gtu's

s5- gxl, t2's, gtus's have them.

i have one for sale if ya need one...

 

for 89-91 the only non turbo to get lsd was the gtus

 

86-88 GXL

87-91 T2

88 GTU

89-90 GTUs (however not the 89-90 GTU)

You can also tell by looking at the differential as there will be a LSD tag on S4 cars with a LSD.

 

can that tag be removed easily? I supposedly bought an s4 GXL LSD from someone, but I don't see any tag on it anywhere. Though if I stop the driveshaft end, and try to spin one halfshaft end, the other won't spin the other way, it doesn't spin at all (but this is only by hand).

 

You can't hold the driveshaft from turning, if that's what your doing. Jack up rear in neutral and e brake off. Turn wheel and see if the opposite wheel turns the same way. Or remove the cover and take a look.

 

yea the tag is also the drain plug washer

 

The N/A diffs have a different bolt patern for the drive shaft than the TII ones. Just though that id throw that out incase there are some that dont know.
