Car Sat For Year Or Two, Will Turn Over But . . .
#1
Ok, I just got a 89 rx-7 vert that had been sitting for awhile. I changed all the fluids and charged the battery. It turns over fine but it will not fire. Can anyone help me out with this. I have own my 95 3000GT for 5 years now but I have no clue about the rx-7. I was just given it last week. It has about 90K on it right now. Anything will help! Thanks!

yes empty tank and refill with some good *****, check what condition spark plugs are in, if they are all old and crusty think about replacing them. but if they smell like gas, unplug the fuel pump in the back and crank with gas pedal to the floor until it unfloods. then plug in and try to start again.

Check the basics air, fuel, and spark first.
Drain the gas, and run Marvels Mystery Oil in your new gasoline very heavy, 1.5 ounces to a gallon. You will smoke a little but it will help. Also you may need to have another battery charging and waiting becasue I went through a couple trying to start mine. Have some one listen or you listen to the engine while your trying to start it. Rattling and clunking = bad of course. If it sounds like it is turning over too fast like there is no resistance, you may have little or no compression. Try the Automatic Transmission Fluid trick. If it gets to that point we can walk you through it. Good luck...

OK. i was in the sam spot. you have to put new gas in it. then put about a tbs of oil in the rotor housing and let it sit for a day or two. if that does not work do the same with atf. but with the atf you WILL need new plugs. also try a tune up some times that will fix it.

see your car is not starting because no iol has gottin to the seils in a long time so you are not getting the compretion you need.
but you want to check for fuil spark and all that.
also look at eveythink to see if it all looks too be good and where it all should be if you see somethink that looks funky then right back and somone will help you.

One of the most frequently over looked simple maintence items when starting a car that has sat for an extended period is the fuel filter. Sure it make sense to drain old gooey gas from the tank. But the same crud has caked the fuel filter and will block or at least slow gas flow. Go to Mazda and get an OEM filter and replace before you start her up.
