Thumbs up

my 90 GTU USED to start up perfectly. But ever since it got flooded and i left it like that, because i got lazy, for like 3 days and unflooded it. It keeps getting flooded easily. But here's the thing... I start the car while holding down the pedal for like 2 seconds and let go then the car starts/runs fine. Turn off the car and turn it on again in like 10 seconds then it starts perfectly (sort of...) like before. BUT if i were to wait for like a minute or two then it would be flooded and would be hard to start again. What i'm thinking is that probably my injectors are leaking when i leave it off for a while and the pressure is pushing it out into the engine. But if i were to start it again, then the leaking injectors didnt have enough time to flood the engine enough.... right? I dont know am i right or is there anything else i would have to look at?

you are correct, itis your injectors. I would either replace or rebuild them. you can alway pull the egi fuse (under the hood), crank it for 2-3 seconds, put the fuse back and it will fire right up. My 88 t2 did the samething.

Yeah, pulling the fuse or holding the pedal for a sec when starting the car works. But i want to fix it rather than having to bootlegg my car until the problem worsens. Now how would i know when to replace my injectors/ to the point where they cant be used again? oh and thanks for the help. Any help is appreciated thanks

You could have them professionally cleaned and flow tested. That way you know, even after being cleaned, how well they're performing.

Don't go to http://www.rceng. com/, at least right now. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but everytime I try to load that url, Norton comes up saying that the page is trying to load "Virus name: Bloodhound.Exploit.21" onto my computer. Just a heads up if you're looking around

If you decide to go elcheapo and rig it to work you can always put a switch inline to the fuel pump to turn it on and off. Thats what I did. It works fine although Its not a permanent fix.

Just turn it off to turn the motor off and it will drain the engine to stall. Your injectors will still leak slightly but if you want to start the car while its flooded you can start it with the switch in the off position, then turn it on when the engine fires up.

Again this is a temporary fix but is working extremely well for me.

my car floods easily, but that's because it doesn't get warmed up first. I've heard many people say that a rotary should be warmed up before it is shut off or it will get flooded. This happens to me all the time when i move it around in the driveway or something. every time i warm it up first i have no problems.

also, i'm pretty sure in the owners manual it tells you to put the gas pedal all the way down when you start it if it is flooded to like disable the pump or something. i think this is only on s5's.

Yeah the pedal thing works but i want my car to run more conveniently. Instead of cheating it until it gets much worse than things like the switch, pedal, fuse, etc methods cant help. right?

well then just warm it up, it's the only way to fix the problem. it's not really a problem if that's what it says to do in the owners manual. you do not need to pull any use if you have an 89 or newer, just hold the gas pedal. if you want a car that just starts and drives buy a toyota.
