Hey guys,

My 88 n/a is dead. I already did the unflooding procedure a few times but nothing. I pulled the plugs and they were bone dry... so I don't think it is flooded at all. The car was running perfect. I parked it about a week ago and now it just flat out won't start. I've never had flooding or other problems so I have no clue where to start here.

Assuming flooding is not the problem and I checked all fuses which are good, what is next? Do fuel pumps and coils just stop working while the car is off???

Well, when you turn the ignition, do you hear the fuel pump come on? If it's not getting fuel, the fuel pump...might've, you know...DIED...

Test for spark and see if you have fuel pressure. After that you have to start tearing in more.

How do you go about testing for spark?

One way is to pull a plug, re-attach the wire and make sure the body of the plug is grounded. Then have someone crank the car while you look for a spark. It's easier to see the spark if you're in a somewhat dark place (not bright sunlight). The spark should be blue-white, not orange. Try not to touch the plug while you're doing this, as the output of a properly working ignition system will set you on yer ***, or if conditions are ideal, render you dead.

My reply wasn't smart ***...it's an obvious thing to check for, a lot of people don't do it.

Yeah or you can use a screw driver in front of the plug and have it arc to that. Which that can have the same bad outcome if not done right. There is a spark tester you can buy. Costs about 3.00 is a simple plastic housing with a clip so you can attach it. Then you can gap it out and see how far it arks. I got mine at a parts store, im usre most places will sell something similar to that.
