I just replaced my brake master cylinder. The rebuilt one that I bought did not have a resevior with it so I had to use the old one. I was able to get the resevior off by prying at it with a screwdriver but I can't get it all the way into the new cylinder. Has anyone had a similar problem? Currently it is about 3/4 of the way in but is not flush with rubber seals on the cylinder itself. I thought about using 2 C clamps to pull it down the rest of the way but I don't want to damage the cylinder. Is there a set screw or something that I am missing that is keeping it from going all the way down ??

I had the same problem, I don't think I ever got it all the way in.

I also think I cracked it in the process, it leaks, I need to replace it.

Lube everything up good with brake fluid and firmly but carefully rock it back and forth whilst pushing with 1,000,000 pounds of force. It's a breeze.
