Well, I bought a hybrid turbo from a member of the evil forum a while back. I received it, and there was a lot of shaft play. When I installed it and took her for a short spin, I noticed an oil leak coming from the turbo. At first I thought it was my fault from not tightening down the oil lines enough, but then I noticed oil coming from where the TID bolts on! I took the TID off and a gush of oil came out from the inlet. There was oil all the way in my intercooler and tb even. So I deemed the turbo blown. Sent it back to the member, and he won't help me out whatsoever, so now I'm gonna be stuck with a blown turbo.

What I'm wondering is where I should either send it to be rebuilt or is there any place that I can get a rebuild kit to do it myself? If I do it myself, do I need to have it balanced? where could that be done?

Thanks,

Aaron

P.S. Its a hyrbid with to4 comp. wheel and housing

Who built the hybrid, Majestic?

www.turbocity.com sells rebuild kits, but I don't know if they'll work with a hybrid.

I'm not sure actually who built it. And that's what I was unsure of, I know turbocity has the kits, but will it work with a hybrid or am I gonna have to piece something together to work for it?

I'm not sure.

On the cold side of the turbo, look for some type of marking. I think mine said something about Majestic on it.

$350 for a blown to4b turbo isn't that bad, cheapturbos = $250 for them to the rebuild cartridge.. How much does bnr charge for a rebuild and upgrade to that compressor? Probably close to 600... Now if the compressor wheel/housing is jacked, that sucks..

Majestic will give you a quote for the rebuild. You have to send them the turbo so they can see what need to be replaced 1st. After they rebuild it you get a warranty.

If all it needs is some repair I cannot imagine it costing a lot to get fixed.

I wouldn't send it to Majestic unless you want to send it there every year.
