I know this isnt really the right topic on a rotary forum but I was wondering if anybody has put a v8 in these cars. I know it can be done and I have seen the grannies racing website but what I really want to know if the people that have done it would do it again, what engine they used, was it worth it, how hard was it to do,ect... I am not plannning on putting one in my stock 88 vert but I have the chance to pick up another one and thought it would be kind of fun to do..Any opionions would be great. Thanks Dan

I'm still working on mine. Don't go with a carbed Ford motor, there isn't much information and online support for these swaps, and hood fitment issue sucks (my intake, distributor, and belt tensioner are all above the hood line so far, I'm guessing the a/c compressor will be too). The LSx motors are definitely the most popular, and you can easily get help or find info on these swaps.

I think a V8 swap is pretty cool, as long as it's not a hack job. If you like torque, go for it. Any V8 has way more mechanical leverage than a rotary engine.

Rob's car is pretty sweet.

I bought the car needing some clean up work but I have followed enough swaps to know its probably on the same level

as a rotary rebuild with turbo kit and standalone.

it has the T56 transmission ( 6 speed ) and stock rear end which is plenty good so long as you dont plan on always

launching real hard from a dead stop with slicks.

car has a grannys crossmember.

the swap has been done so many times now that there is so much information out there to help you along.

even the old iron block LT1 makes for a nice swap.
