Ok, so I thought my brake booster took a poop, because the pedal seemed high up and it was hard to push down. So I got another one (used) and put it in today. I think I hooked everything back up right. The only problem is that the pedal is nearly impossible to pusho down now, and the car does not want to stop.

What should I be looking for? The booster holds vaccuum. I adjusted the pedal for minimum freeplay. Did I miss something? Thanks in advance.

booster check...if the motor is not runnin..

havin depressed the brake pedal a number of times will result in a stronger resistance...

rock hard feel to a point where you may not budge it all..

hold this then start the engine..you should feel a slight release in resistance..

my suspicion is your master cylinder..it may not be actuating properly...

I've done that check too. Its hard to describe though. The pedal won't go down at all when I start the car, but when I shut off the car it is noticably harder.

How could the master not be actuating properly? I replaced it like last year, but I got a no-name brand.

Another thing is that when I take off the hose to the booster with the car running, it doesn't stall. A leak that large should make it stall right?

if you pull the vacuum line off the engine, you should be able to suck, but not blow.

OK, so I did put the hose with the valve in it on backwards. Live and learn I guess. Now I have another problem. The pedal is now limp up top. There is no feedback, yet the brakes still work. Then it gets rock hard near the bottom. Any suggestions?

I think I'll put the old one back on. My friend cleaned out the whole line from manifold to booster, and he said it was almost totally blocked with carbon. I guess I wasn't getting enough vacuum.
