big brake kits

For someone who says they haven't seen so much misinformation, your post is way wrong? Are you seriously saying tires make no difference in braking? I really hope your not.
The bigger the brake Doesn't make it better. You have to find the size balance between a brake kit that will allow heat transfer properly and have the least unsprung weight on the braking system. Bald tires make a **** load difference in braking, your statement was borederline retarted.
For once I agree with you. Tires and brakes = stopping. But slicks are bald, but sticky so your bald tires is a little out there

Fc3sboy, you just said you problem, throw those damn EBC's in the trash, I had a set on my car for about a month, they didnt break evenly at all, try some hawks, I have a feeling you will like them alot more.
yes i could try that but im set on big brakes now. and if all goes well this winter the 225/255 wide tires will be replaced with 275/315 wide skins so again with more contact patch with stick *** tires, the closer to a perfict balance i can get the better off i will be and the happier i will be.
I dont recall brakes ever really going in depth on this forum. I know there was a post about brake pads a little while ago.
I have heard nothing but bad with EBC. I dont particualry like KVR. I have heard alot of good things about Hawks. I really like Akebono. I have used KVR and Akebono and out of the 2, the Akebonos are great. For a carbon pad, it doesnt create alot of dust (I have white wheels, and you really never noticed it) They did heat up going down the mountain after a little while, but I expected that. The KVRs put out nothing but dust and do not last.
Do you auto-x the RX? There was a guy on the forum a while ago that had an awesome setup. The front wheel was a larger diameter, wider tire than the rear and he had better times with that setup than the normal setup. He had a great brake setup too. I gotta find that. Any one know who I am talking about. I think his car was red, and had a widebody(not RE)

not alot of people use the stock brakes to thier potential
some good autocrossers never had a problem even with high horsepower cars. Obviously this guy wants more and has the need for more.
lets stop the bashing and trying to get the last word in, if you dont have something of importance to say then stay out the thread.

enuff said there.
and to think all i was expecting was maybe 3 or 4 differnt ppls telling me that i could look here or there for what i needed , like what normaly happens in this forum. but instead it turned into what close to 90 comments now and only of wich five or six of them truly helped me in my quest.
I would at least try a set of hawks before you go spending a ton of money on brake up grades. Satisfieds are some good pads too, I have a full set of those on my Mx-3 with x drilled and slotted rotors, I was more than impressed with them, and the car gets nothing more than "spirited" driving.

So we have concluded just a few things. Bigger rotors=more rotor surface to help you stop sooner.
I don't agree with that statement in production car design.

exactly. rowtareh did you read on the first page what I wrote and the link I posted?
Bigger rotors could result in a LONGER stoping distance due to unsprung weight and rotating mass. I watched a show on speed network where they compared mustang stoping distances(yes i know gaystang and whatever) with stock brakes and some differnet mustang BBKs. The 60ft stoping distances were WORSE with the BBKs then the stock brakes in this test, HOWEVER the BBKs did allow faster sheding of heat on the roadcourse test they did, which allowed for better braking over extended periods of time.
I'm not attacking Anyone in this thread, just people who have mentioned me in a negative way in the first place. Sorry if you feel that way, maybe block my name if you don't like my posts? I dunno what to tell you, but I'm just posting information that pertains to this subject, and people have misconceptions about braking and what effects stoping distances.
Edit: The mustang BBKs were wilwood, and two other american brands, I forget them off hand
