The npt fitting blocks off the bypass that the thermostat usually blocks when it reaches temp.

That bypass allows water coming out of the engine to recirculate back into the engine

and stoping that bypass makes all your water to go into the radiator to cool all your water

then a "gutted" thermostat still allows the same water pressure than

just no thermostat at all would. no thermostat wouldn't be able to push the water fast

enough

I think I got that off of mazdaspeeds website a year ago

I put a electric fan on to give me some h.p.(when my stock fan clutch sezied up) but it didn't give me a

noticable diffrence

I took the shroud off because it was in the way every time I when to do something in the front of the engine

and I like the room I have in the front now

I would not remove the shroud if I had the stock fan because it helps to pull air from the corners of the radiator

and also taking off the intake cooling lines decreases air temps going into your engine

the main air flow for the radiator is the bottom panal under the engine bay that was one of my biggest problems

Like I said though I have no more overheating problems which before the stock s5 temp gauge in my gauge cluster always reading around 3/4 but now the same gauge will not go over 1/2 even on the hottest day

So I doubt I have destroyed the cooling system functions. That npt fitting mod is used by ITS class in SCCA

for very hot 2gen race cars. And in florida in the summer it gets hot enough to F-up your rotary and mine runs cool as it can be without a upgraded radiator
