That Efan is the exception to the rule as far as installs concerning the shroud. It still doesnt address the issue of the FC's marginal electrical system..............

TB Mod is a waste of your time if you feel like having tons of tiny little ***** to test and diagnose if you ever have a problem. I dunno what people hate about simplicity. When i was done, it was simplistic, the car idled perfectly at stock 700rpm and i didnt have to worry about anything sticking, not working etc..except my throttle cable.

E-fan...i think you should correct it and put "doing an e-fan incorrectly" you can do an e-fan properly and it will not only save you space but be somewhat comparable to the stock fan. When i did my first one, i did it ghetto, knowing the car was going down for a while soon so i didnt care i just needed more room.

PS rack - > Manual rack... What exactly is the problem here? I went lock to lock which removes enough fluid that its easy to turn yet leaves enough fluid in it to self-lubricate...i just blocked the ports off with bolt tho, no loopy lines. In all honesty most people were shocked at how easy it was to turn my steering wheel at a stand still.

I think a lot of the possibly easy paths are fucked up by people cheaping out on the cheap mods. Like its a cheap mod to begin with...at least do that correctly, but people ghetto-ize the ghetto-ness. if ya get what i mean.

but hey whatever floats your boat... I think anything exterior is the most useless modification possible. That being said, i switched to an FC2000 frontend because i cant stand the poor lighitng of my popups, i tried desperatly to make them be bright and it just wasnt happening so i dumped them.

anywho back to my cave i go,

kevin.

My personal line of reasoning on Power steering rack as a manual rack.

1. Manual Racks are designed to use grease as the rack lubricant.

2. PS Racks are designed with the seals to be lubricated by a certain flow of a specific fluid flowing past them.

So, you loop your lines, leaving in a small amount of fluid in the rack. Over time this fluid heats up during operation (which causes the fluids lubricating qualities to degrade even further) and it gets dirtier from wear particles.

Eventually you run the risk of of tearing the operating piston seal(due to inadaquate lubrication) in the rack and greatly increasing the level of effort required to operate the rack.

That is my opinion and you are invited to post your rebuttals

umm....well yeah.....I used to do in my AE86's because manual racks are hard to find, and even then you needed to find the steering collum as well because it was different between manual and power racks. also the manual rack had a slower ratio.

In my FC's I only had one with power steering and I left it alone.

[quote name='banzaitoyota' date='Apr 18 2005, 04:48 PM']In MY HUMBLE OPINION and in no particuliar order..........

1. Removing the Pulsation Damper and replacing it with a banjo bolt

2. Removing the Power Steering Pump and looping the lines to run the rack as a manual rack

3. 20 HP Chips from Ebay

4. Cantilevering Transmission mounts when doing an Auto to MAnual conversion

5.Electric Fans in place of the stock shroud and clutch fan

6. Torching springs to lower them

7. Lazy Eye Headlights

2. manual rack too slow.....

3. yeah

4. yep

5. if your engine is REALLY BIG then you have no choice

Another one I'd add would be disconecting the headlight motors so that they stay down and light goes through the flasher glass things ion the bumber.

And I think the e fan is only bad if done wrong. But that just mho
