Rob my scoop is fucked. My hood looks like a little kid was playing the drums on it with a ballpean hammer.

His intake is pretty low and if you've ever seen abilene puddles then you'll know why it caused a problem with his motor. Abilene puddles are like lakes because there isn't a drainage system in this town. He also had a turbo kit on his car and the oil feed line which has a rubber hose portion to it(poor design IMO) melted on the cat and leaked out alot of oil and started an oil fire in his engine bay. This was a really bad night.

if money is tight you could try to get a used TII hood compleate with

scoop. Or get the aftermarket one, it weighs more but its cheap, and it will probably be easier to find a good used scoop as hoods get dented easily.

You could get one of those CF hoods from FC3s, I think they are like $400-$500 with scoop.

Money isn't the problem. Stuff like this is why I'm glad the wife insisted I have full coverage insurance. Hopefully the insurance won't total it. Hopefully they'll spring for a new hood too.

I would rather lay out $700 out of pocket then have my insurance go up for nearly 4 years for a inexpensive claim. What kind of deductible do you have anyhow?

7mech 06-12-2003 12:40 PM

Rob I don't think this is going to be an inexspensive calim. The guy who blew his motor has over $6000.00 in body damage from this storm. If you saw the damage you would see why we've opted to file a claim. I originally just wanted to buy a new hood and light covers in a couple of months after I pay off the credit cards but the wife was like there's no way you'll be able to fix all that damage from out of pocket.

Rob x-7 06-12-2003 07:10 PM

I was talking about your claim, not your friends claim. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

if you paid out of pocket you could probably get the car fixed for under

$1000, not sure how much you pay for insurance, or how much they will raise

you, but if they raise your insurance lets say $500, multiply that by 40 months and it can add up.

When I smashed up my NSX, my agent told me a claim was a claim. No matter what the dollar amount it would affect ym insurance the same. I got my moneys worth though, over $40,000 in damage. If you're gonna do it, do it right... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

I would agree with Rob, if you don't need to make a claim, don't. It sucks, paying for insurance and not using it when something happens. In the long run it is likely going to be a better option for you on a low dollar amount claim.

a long time ago I used my "zero deductible glass coverage" to cover a

windshield. When it was time to renew my insurance I was shopping around,

and wasnt getting the cheapest rate, it was for a claim on my insurance, being puzzled as I never had a accident, I asked what it was for, and the OTHER insurance companies all told me the same thing, "we cant give you the best rate because you had a windshield claim last year"

A ******* $200 windshield cost me alot more in the long run, now I deny the glass coverage, I dropped it on my Lexus, I didnt even realize I had it on there, it was $98 a year, a new windsield is $185, so why the **** should I bother with it? In the event of a accident glass is covered.
