Well I went out drinking tonight with the wife and get kind of toasty. We come home and notice the there's a storm on the way. Well we come in and it starts raining and hailing(small hail). It stops hailing after a couple a minutes so I think notheing about it. We go to bed and I wake up at about 2am and have a sick feeling that there's something wrong with my car. I get dressed and walk out the door to go to my friends house where the car is parked to check on it. I get out the door and turn my cell phone back on and it beeps at me telling me I have voice mail. It's my friend. He called to say that the storm was pretty bad on his end of the town. I was like **** not again. I called him and he said that it was golf ball sized hail the was coming down like it was shot out of a gun. He preceeded to tell me that my wind shield was cracked and that my hood was dented. He also said his car was worse. He said that his hatch on his 240sx, one of his mirors, and quater glass were all busted. He said his roommates lancer got the brunt of it though. He said the back glass got busted, hood got dented, while driving back in the rain he sucked up water through his intake and into his engine. They think the engine might be toast. Any way I was wondering what the cost of a new hood and windshield would be for a 90 TII? I was just thinking that somebody may have had to replace these items before and not that the forum was a collision center that gives damage quotes. Thanks for any help. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png

Damn, that's rough...sorry to hear it. We had a bad hail storm here a little while back (there's a thread in Gen D about it somewhere) with some golf-ball sized hail. Lucky for me, my car was in a garage, but some of my friends' cars got fucked up. :(

I think just about every car in the nieghborhood got fucked up. When I drove into the nieghborhood to check out the damage, it looked like a war zone. There were tree branches and huge puddles of water everywhere. It was just plain ugly. My friend said that he even had some of his house windows broken.

Sorry to hear about that. That sucks. You can try http://www.victoriabritish.com/ for the hood. I'm not too sure if they sell the front windshield though.

That gives you a reason to get a carbon fiber or fiber glass hood!!!

I was thinking about that. Just one question though. I know they're light and all but are really all that sturdy? Can they withstand hail?

I think I need a Vosko style hail proof hood and windshield.LOL j/k https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

You'll have a hard time finding body panels that will withstand Texas sized hail. That **** is scary.

I have to replace my windsheild also, the cheapest quote I received for a brand new one was $185, they come to your house or work and install it onsite. For $65 they would come out and install one you purchased. I've thought about getting one from the junk yard and having them install it, but in the long run I think it's going to be better to get a brand new one.

you can get aftermarket TII hoods, no scoop, but Im guessing your

scoop is fine. About $200-250.

Mazda OEM TII hood is like $700 I believe.

$185-$200 is about right for a windshield.

it'd be pretty hard for water to ruin an engine, unless you drive into a lake or something. It probably just shorted out his ignition.
