I get in the car today and start noticing that from the right rear theres somewhat of a squeeking sound, almost like maybe a rubber-rubber contact or whatnot. I got the tire off and rotate the axle and I can hear some sort of popping coming from the driveshaft where it meets hub. I looked in the haynes manual and the only bearing is on the diff. side of the driveshaft. Any thoughts on what i'm hearing? i've also noticed that when i turn right that u can hear a clicking coming from the same place. It just boggles me that the only bearing that could be busted is on the opposite side of the driveshaft that the noise is coming from. It only makes the loud squeek when the tires are on and i'm driving it around 5 mph and press the brakes. Other than that its mainly a click/popping noise. Any thoughts/comments are VERY welcome.

Thanks

If im thinking right and then the clicking your describing is normaly a cv joint If you say you hear it on one side then i'd defintly replace it.

Are you saying that there are no bearings in the hub, cause that's what it sounds like. I'd check them first anyway - how many miles on the car?

theres 141,000 miles on the car -- I was looking in the haynes manual and there is a bearing in the driveshaft, but its at the differential side, not towards the hub where the clicking is coming from, and other than that I cant seem to figure out through the manual pictures and whatnot where any other bearings are. I've been trying to find if theres any other axle/wheel bearings around there and i cant locate them in the pictures of the manual. Still kinda clueless, any other comments are very welcome and much appreciated!

There are bearings in all hubs for the wheels. Find out where you can get a set and replacing them yourself is easy, all you have to do is when you're putting the hub back together make sure it's torqued up properly.
