BACKFIRE NOSTART, PLEASE HELP
#1
i searched for backfiring/not running topics and found others no similar to my problem so here it goes:
just got an gen 2 88 rx7 gxl with 1.3B electric fuel injected, paid $500 for it and car will not start.. only has 152,XXX original miles
guy told me the flywheel is damaged but had a quarter tank of bad gas, iv drained and added new gas as that the flywheel has not been replaced yet as that i want to get the car to at lease run befror i take the 5 speed tranny off and do all that work if the engine doesnt run?
guy said i should be able to kick start it but all it does is backfire maybe every 3-6 seconds and will not stay running, engine turns over with tranny in 1st and 2nd gears and sounds fine other than the backfiring, TIMING ISSUE? hope not, first rotory iv owned! (and is very loud and shoots flames from the dual exaust pipes) ill have a video on youtube when i get the chance..
jus wondering if any one can help me out here? e-mail adamnfs@live.com ill try to have video of problem later today...

I had a problem like that with it throwing flames and back firing it was my ignition amplifier that was cutting in and out till it finally died. Check Crank sensor and timing if it is fine check the primary coil for proper ignition and check the igniter. if all else is fine do a compression check. actually do that first save your self some headaches only to give you others.
