are the rear tranny mount points the same for auto and manual? im talking about where the rear mount bolts to the floor of the car.

On Coupes : NO

Auto Mounts are located forward of the man maounts

On Some S5 verts they had both mounts, why? who knows?

well it would be nice if mine had both. ill have to check it out. does it look the same as the mouting point for the auto?

Soory, my memory was shot, MAnaula mount is forward of the Auto mount. Here is a pic of my car when I welded the manual mounts in.

yeah i figured it was in front. how much work is the swap all together?? i talked to rp and they said they stopped doing it bc its a lot of work and even more than the fd swap. which sounds like bs to me

banzaitoyota 01-27-2005 05:00 PM

Did it in a weekend. Hardest part was lifting the carpet up to keep it from igniting, and swapping out the pedal cluster.

Drop the steering column to install

Highlights. Dont forget a T/O Bearing

Use new mounts and clutch line.

Make sure you get an NA driveshaft

Shane.Trammell 01-27-2005 05:07 PM

are the mounts for the auto and manual the same? i mean the crossmemeber part. and was your carpet igniting bc you were welding under it?

banzaitoyota 01-27-2005 07:16 PM

No the mounts are not the same. Yes, the sounddeading material under the carpet is very flammable. I lifted the edge of the carpet. slid in a 2x4 to raise the carpet off the floor. After a short weld. I blasted a shot of CO2 under the carpet to cool it off

Shane.Trammell 01-27-2005 11:19 PM

hmm, if the manual mount point is there i wont need to do any welding will i?

yeah ive looked on there, but hes talking about make that mount adapter thing. i dont want to do that, i want it to be just like stock.

banzaitoyota 01-28-2005 04:54 PM

People have reported problems with ghetto-rigged mounts. I DONT RECOMMEND IT

Shane.Trammell 01-28-2005 04:58 PM

yeah im not going that route. i want the finished product to be a completly factory tii vert, even rhd. thats a while down the road but i dont want to ghetto rig anything now that im just gonna have to fix later.

Shane.Trammell 01-29-2005 09:43 AM

to banzai or who ever has done the swap: did your car have a block off on the hole where the clutch master cyl goes? i noticed yesterday that mine does. what i mean is that the hole and bolt holes are there but they have a plate bolted in/over them.

banzaitoyota 01-29-2005 12:22 PM

Yes, its a block off plate, unbolt it, and remove. Then drop the steering column and remove the Pedal Cluster and replace with a manual pedal cluster. Some people just add the clutch pedal to the auto cluster, but I find it easier to replace the whole thing

Shane.Trammell 01-29-2005 12:39 PM

i was thinking there was drilling to be done for the pedal but after looking at the fsm i guess it just hangs there on the bolt. hmm it seems that if there are the holes under the car for the manual mount this swap would be a piece of cake. do the tii parts bolt up and mount in the same places as the na parts? will a tii rear and halfs swap right in?
