Thanks guys I got mine done for free at a local shop. Ufortunately it's not doing me any good b/c when I installed my new pilot bearing I didn't get it in far enough. I ended up destroying the seal when I started my car. It really sucks b/c i had to drop the tranny again and now have to wait until Friday for the new seal and bearing.

what did you use to get the pilot bearing out? carefull not to gauge the shaft. I tapped mine in with a socket, and a rubber mallet. what did you use? that's gotta suck. at least you're getting good at swapping the tranny. Yeah i got 9 under my belt......trying to keep that down to a minimum. It's hump work https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

Johann I pulled the bearing with the bearing puller that I bought from rx7.com. I used the same thing to tap mine in but I just didn't put it in far enough. The seal got all chewed up by the spline shaft from the tranny. I ordered another one from rx7.com yesterday. It should be he on Friday. This is the 7th time I've dropped a tranny. Dropped Jorge's 3 times, Eric's 2 times, and mine 2 times now. Your right it really is hump work. Especially since I've done all but 1 of them on a garage floor. I got smart this time and bought a transmission jack from Harbor Frieght. It's very nice. It only takes a few minutes to get the tranny out and it only takes one person. How was the toga party? How's the car? Did you have it tuned yet? Have you gotten it to the track or raced it at all?

I have the bearing puller, works great for removal, but not so for install, just use a socket, getting the bearing a little too far won't hurt you, but you naw that seal if it isn't in far enough. The bearing puller i have is from Mazdatrix and it is not meant for install the end of it bottoms out before the bearing is allt he way in.

wow you bought the puller huh. i've been trying to get my hands on one, and then taking it to a machine shop and having them made and sold cheaper. they're a little steep and i've been a cheap bastard to buy one. but it does definitely make the whole thing easier. can u use the tranny stand, when the car is on the ground? toga parties kick ass......especially when girls lose theirs. car isn't tuned yet. Fri of next week. lots of rice here in daytona. gonna go to Orlando and play with the big boys.

The tranny jack I bought is meant for use with the car on jack stands. It has a 450lbs. of lifting capacity and can go as low as 8in. off the floor to 21in. off the floor. The reason I bought the puller was b/c I didn't think I could get John to help me ( thought he would be busy, and didn't want to be like Eric.). Hope the chicks that lost thier togas weren't the ones that had them made by Omar the tent maker(hope they weren't fat). Good luck on the tuning and kick some ass in Daytona for me. Hey I sure that some of the other guys from this forum are from there. why don't you ask them to meet you so they can show where it all happens at. Maybe you might be able to get some really good races that way.

Glad to see it worked out well. John

I did the same thing when I put my pilot bearing in when I did the engine: I didn't put it in far enough. Thanks Phinsup https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png for letting me know, I totally thought the tool would work to put it back in. So last week when I did my clutch I installed a new one doing just as Phinsup said, using a socket to tap it in. That pilot bearing tool is awesome, takes about 5 seconds to pull a bearing.
