Today we blew the old motor up and got started on putting the new motor in my 87 Gxl. We started this morning at 10 and the new motor is sitting in the car almost ready to be started. All we have left to do is put the upper mani on, plug everything in, and figure out what is going to be left of the rats nest of a vacuum rack.

We spent the extra time to clean the engine bay with a purple bottle of grease lightning, that stuff is awesome. I will get some pics and the destruction video up as soon as I can.

We started the new motor this afternoon before the rain. It ran for just a few seconds then died bc the fuel pump wont stay on I figure it is a ground that is loose somewhere. I will go get some pictures developed today and see if I can get the video uploaded.

wait youre going through all this trouble and youre leaving that horrid rats nest on?

booo, trash it, completely not necessary, plus your motor will look 10 years younger without it.

Well today I ended up ditch the whole rats nest. When it did start it ran strong and fired off on the second or third crank.

throttle bombs usually work a whole bunch faster with no fluids in the engine.

The bumper starting on fire was about the funniest thing ever.

drunkin_idiot 09-25-2005 03:48 PM

Ohh man entertaining stuff, hahaha, flames were nuts.

fc3s4utnv 09-25-2005 07:53 PM

It was alot better in person. The damn exhaust sounded like an airplane was taking off with its afterburners going.

fc3s4utnv 10-10-2005 03:13 PM

Yes its my car. We found out the motor didnt even die, it just run out of gas. It ate up a 1/4 tank in 6 mins.

CGeek2k 10-11-2005 09:29 PM

Why would you purposely blow up the old engine?

toplessFC3Sman 10-11-2005 09:42 PM

It was blowing that white smoke cause it was out of gas? odd, that looked pretty bad to me

No it was blowing white smoke bc the motor was ****. It finally quit running bc it was out of gas. Reading comprehension > you.

Both of those are pretty *******-ish responses. Rebuilding an engine, even one with a blown coolant seal, isn't all that hard. Believe me, I've done it. Even if you didn't need the engine for yourself, there are plenty of people who do and could have used it before you destroyed it just because you could. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

fc3s4utnv 10-13-2005 09:41 PM

Damn how many times do I have to say it was NOT rebuildable! The motor had blow several oil lines, been overheated two or three times and was screwed. What else do you want? It was my engine, not yours so dont worry about it. I am in the process of taking it apart just to see what actually happened to it. So chill out people, it wasnt yours so dont worry.

CGeek2k 10-14-2005 09:31 AM

Sorry man. I just got the impression that you were blowing up a good ar at least mostly good engine. Guess I should keep my mouth shut until I know all the facts.

fc3s4utnv 10-14-2005 06:20 PM

Its cool man, you would not believe the how many remarks like yours I have gotten, it just got to me. But the engine was not even good for a core.
