So I blew an oil coller line on Easter and went home on a flatbed. Shoulda gone to church, I guess.

Anyway now that I got the car back home, I don't want to drop $220 for a pair of OEM lines, and I don't want used ones that are gonna blow again.



I'm looking to just get a whole ebay oil cooler kit with stainless lines, the only thing is that they're AN-style fittings. One in particular is 8-AN with the 7/8" bolt size. I know that the Bolt size of the fitting on the front oil cover is 7/8, but i'm not very familiar with AN sizes.



Anyone have any experience running these lines? ...Anything, just lookin for ideas here.

-an sizes are VERY easy. Everything is on a 16th scale.... (ie a -8 is a 8/16"... -10 = 10/16") reduce the equation down to it's smallest size... a -8 is a 8/16... which is a 1/2. Get it?



-AN's are very expensive... but IMO... VERY worth it. Every single line on my FD is -an fittings and SS lines....just cause i like to know it won't fail on me.

You could take your blown stock lines to a hydraulic shop, and have them fit SS braided lines to your stock fittings.

Seems simple enough, thanks for clarifying that. So the line's would be 1/2" Inner Diameter... which i assume would be large enough to flow sufficient oil?

If I used -10 AN I could just get the adapter fittings from RacingBeat.

Do you guys think 1/2" is big enough? Anyone using that size line?

i *think* most people run -10's... if i remember correctly, i'm running -12's on my car.

No sense in ordering a smaller ebay kit if I have to run around looking for the right fittings anyway.

At least I know i can get the -10 adapters from racingbeat, and i can cut the appropriate lengths for the lines.



If I get a new oil cooler entirely, I'll probably use a pair of straight swivels and a couple of 90's, and the stainless line of course.



GreyGT-C, if you don't mind me asking, where'd you get your AN fittings and line from? ...Figured you'd know a good source.

Summit or Jeggs both sell them around the same price as you'll find them anywhere else. ONLY use Aeroquip brand... you'll find Russell, Earl's and a few other brands out there for less... but they are crap. When you try to save a few dollars on one of those fittings, just remember that ONLY Aeroquip is allowed to be used in aircraft...it's for a reason.

banzai sells the ss lines for 225 and it comes with the adapters too

...the adapters are actually extra I believe. And 225 alone is a little steep for my budget anyway. Just seems like I could probably do it myself for less money
