The Pureone is one of the best out there. I don't think that's overkill. Overkill would be a K&N every 1500 miles or something.

at strauss auto they have cutaways of "leading brand" "purolator" and "PUREONE", basically pureone looks like it has 10x as many pleats/folds as the purolator, which itelf has 10 times the folds/pleats of "leading brand". which leaves the questions if purolator is so good, why is it's competitor the "leading" brand? hehe, i asked an employee that question and he was lost. kevin. |
Castrol 20-50.. but that's just me, i ALSO use a purolator "BLUE TIN" oil filter
When scott over at mazsport use to change my oil he'd use Castrol 20-50 and an OEM mazda filter. That's just as good -Markus "GOod luck, let us know" CHEERS! |
Go buy a magnetic drain plug. They run about $2.00 at autozone. Nice to have. A little extra help for the filter. Also, good way to moniter for trouble.

James if youre going to get a new drain plug go for the ones that dont need to be removed to change the oil, makes it super quick https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png kevin. |

Isn't it 6.1 quarts? The Haynes manual says 5, the owner's manual and FSM say 6.1 US quarts. Just changed it for the first time on my '88 vert and added 6 quarts.
My old '79 took 5 1/2 quarts. Filter is easy to change being on the top just poke a hole in it as it drains and put a rag underneath as Rob stated. I like to turn the left wheel to the right, can get to the plug without jacking up car. It's a 19MM socket. |
its 5 quarts, I dont know where you got the extra oil to go?
|
Is the FSM and owner's manual wrong? I was a little suspicous when I saw the Haynes said 5. I changed the filter also of course if that adds to the capacity.
If it's 5 I guess I now have an extra quart in there, should I drain it? |
The owners manuel says to put more oil in the car than is needed. Thats why you check it every time you pour a quart in.
