Thumbs up

hey guys i really can use some help here.. i have a 91 RX-7 Convt.. 85k on it.. i parked the car one night and 3 hrs later went to pull out and it would not turn over. thought at first fuel line was frozed and fule filter clogged .. replaced that at home car turned over but.. when i start the car it idles VERY ROUGH.. and will eventually die .. if i engage into 1st you would think i was attempting to start in 3rd it immedicately looses power and Foot to the Floor on the gas car wont climb or go above 30 mph.it sputters (as if i am not in the right gear) and will go after i pump my clutch to give it juice. orignially was told that my cat convert was bad so i had those replaced. and still had the same problem (although the smoking stopped) took car to dealership and they are telling me that i need a new Engine b/c my car is esentially running on One rotor.. i find this really hard to believe.. car has had all of its maintenance and check ups etc. mint condtn 1 st owner my mother.. and 85K is an very low mileage for a rotary engine to go bad out of the blue with no warning (no smell, rough drive, idle etc) .. i have ownd 2 other RX-7 and neither one with twice the mileage ever had an engine problem.. i was reading about the gentelman having trouble getting his car to fire on the rear rotor and the symptoms are Identical to mine could it be timing issue.. not that the dealership may have hit the nail on the head but after talking to those guys i knew more about how a rotary engine works that their Techs.. PLEASE HELP....

If I understand this right it's the same thing my car was doing after I lost the rear rotor. Did the dealership do a compression test? If they did then I would have to say your engine popped. sorry.

Getto compression test:

Pull the top (trailing) plugs.

Floor the throttle (to cut fuel) & crank the engine.

Listen for perfectly even puffs of air from each plug hole.

(They will come in sets of 6)
