My guess would be the TPS is either fried or way out of adjustment. The TPS (throttle position sensor) went bad in my T2...experienced the same problems...no acceleration, bog, stall, check engine light, etc...

Here is a method of checking codes on the car and cross referencing them to see what might be wrong... http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/codes.html

Usually the check engine light coming on will signify a TPS problem or an O2 sensor problem...at least from my experiences. As soon as I put in a new one, the car ran like new ever since

Good luck

1200 for a running s5 with no rust or body damage is good. Hopefully there's nothing major wrong with the engine. Good luck.

Check the error codes using the link provided. If the check engine light came on, a code is stored in the ECU. It helps to know what that code is when diagnosing the problem.
