In your picture right next to the shock tower there looks to be a grassy nest, make sure you have no uninvited guests.

 

Actually, that's the ground. My car's parked just off of the driveway area next to my mom's shed by the house.



As for the overheating, I'm thinking that a build-up of leaves in front of the radiator may be one of the culprits.
