Exclamation

I am a relatively new owner of an 87 GX (I am told that GX is specific to canada) . Anyway, the #2 rotor in my 13B has perfect compression while the # 1 is low. I have been led to believe that the engine should start and idle on 1 rotor, however it does not. I have spark, and have gotten it to start in the past, but not in the last three weeks. Whenever I turn the engine over, I get a few initial firings that then stop. These are then followed by a strong fuel smell, and even some leaking out from between the exhaust manifold and #1 pre converter. I have tried to start it with the converters out of line, and have checked my fuel pump pressure, with no clues in either.

Low on compression? How low? If you getting less than 3 good pulses per rotor. Probally got a borken apex or flattened spring.. A rotary with even one apex unworking wont idle anywhere less than 3000 rpm.. And runs rough at best Sorry but looks like a rebuilt...Of course im not very knowledagble on a 2nd gen, all I have ever owned were 1st gen.

You should try the ATF trick. I heard it works great from my friends. It will restore your compression and return those apex seals to better condition. But maybe ur having some problems that half these people here are having U should read the posts.
