Thumbs up

Okay I know alot of you may hate me for doing this but I havnt found anyone else that has done this and I have been researching for months now.

On www.grannyspeedshop.com they have a engine swap kit for a nissan VG30DETT motor to fit in my fc. I will be purchasing the motor from www.jspecautosports.com with full motor and tranny unless somone knows of somewhere better. I have emailed the guy at grannyspeedshop and asked if anything needed to be done to make it fit he said no just some custom plumbing (cooling, fuel system?) idk not that big of a deal right now.

Some reasons I choose the nissan motor.

1. Love the 300zx other than its an over glorified paper weight.

2. I have seen absolutely no one with this conversion and would like to be a first.

3. Its a sleek lookin engine and the twin turbos can be upgraded HUGE.

4. Stock motor power a bit better than 13b

5. Can be ported and tuned for under $10,000 to handle 550+hp easily

Problems with this conversion.

I dont know exactly what plumbing needs to be done in order to get everything right and there really isnt a set guide on parts I may need, wiring components, and many other things I may need to get in order to get this baby screamin. As for a basis though what is needed to make an engine swap. Fully built motor, tranny, ECU, and wiring harness uncut. Other than that what else is needed to get the car up and running.

Also fixing Interior.

I dont mean to get racial about things but i live in AZ and I originally bought the car from a hispanic family. Ever heard the term beaner rigged? If it was in the dictionary there would be a picture of the wiring inside of my car next to the phrase. Its pretty sad there are so many wires that are spliced grounded in the most odd places burnt out harnesses and just miles of F!$#ed up wiring. Its sad and hardly anything works right so my plan was to strip the entire vehicle clean and get the whole thing re-wired. Wanted to get a fiberglass dash put in and new guage cluster put in (maybe full digital?). It just seems like the righit thing to do it just seems like there is so much messed up wiring that trying to just FIX it would be a nightmare and that it would be much easier to just re-do it all. (yes its that bad) also the dash it trashed. All the screw clips and plastic clips are broken or haning on by a thread center councel is broken from the mounts everything is just terrible. The dash just in front of the steering wheel is mysteriously pushed up and lipped out. My sunroof is probably broken off the tracks. The motor for it works fine but the damn thing wont move to save its own life. All the vinyl is cracked along with all the plastic pieces in the entire car.

Anyone know of any places that sell OEM harnesses for most of the interior stuff or a place that has a full list of just OEM parts that you can buy. Most places I have found have very few parts listed.

Any type of help would be greatly appriciated. Will take pictures of the damaged goods tomorrow.

hey bro I thought about v8 swapping mine but low fundage has forced me to enjoy my rotary for now. Anyways you will most likely have good luck searching salvage yards for trim or wait for a part out on this site otherwise ebay is always a choice. when you choose your gauges make sure you do research on the tx output for the speedometer, ie. cable electronic. if it's electronic any aftermarket gauge can be set to accomidate. if its a mechanical speedo i thinks grannys offers the converters to retain the stock gauges. it's kind of funny the only wiring that your going to use is the lights heater etc otherwise your going to need to splice the nissan wiring harness in. have fun good luck.
