I believe 86 was the only year Mazda had a clutch start cancel on the rx-7's. On my 86 you never had to engage the clutch to start it, of course as long as it was in neutral.

87 and onward have the interlock and it's awfull funny when I getinto a car, especially with an auto, and go to push in the clutch to start it.... |
