4k Hesitation
#1
I drive an '87 GXL with a rebuilt motor, and a street port (at least that's what the last owner told me...has the lubb of a street ported rotary).
Every since I owned the car it's has a slight hesitation at about 4k. It seems like it's just freewheelin, for about a second, then it starts pulling again, right through 7-8k. I've tried the fuel injector cleaner that you put in the fuel tank, and it helped a little but the problem seems to be coming back again. I'm thinking new fuel injectors, or at least have them cleaned...got any ideas.
Also I'm gonna do new plugs and wires..will this help any??
Next item, my car seems to run really rich. My gas mileage sucks...get like 350km per tank, and I can't get more than 12 gal in the tank when the guage is reading completely empty..wtf??? I get a lot of afterburn in the exhaust when I first start the car up, but all the popping goes away after it reaches idle at 750 rpm. Any ideas how to fix this???
thnx

Definately check the grounding for the injectors, you can buy or make your own grounding kit and from what I have heard it makes a pretty noticible difference. Just on a side note, what are you doing up in the 8 range with an S4!!?? Redline's there for a reason.

theres a ground on the top rear of the motor that, if loose or dirty will cause the 3800hesitation. start there

is it that small little black wire that goes to the firewall?? my car has a 4k hesitation but it won't rev past that.

the answer to ur question is none other than the pressure sensor.... it can be grounding or injectors, coils . but if it was that then it wouldnt pull rich up to 7-8k rpm...trust me its the pressure sensor.. it happened to me a month ago...

Is that the fuel pressure sensor that you're referring to?? Can I make adjustments, or does it have to be replaced??

That wire that goes to the firewall. Useless.
Go get some really heave guage wire from the Autoparts store. I mean like 2 guage. Add a couple of "o" connectors to each end bolt one to a tranny bolt and the other to the frame under the car.
That this *** wire on the fire wall is the culprit of so many grounding issues its not funny. I took mine off and threw it away. After I grounded to the frame of course.
